Inception of Medical Career
Dr. Madhu Loomba had her initiation in medical field from prestigious GSVM College Kanpur. She completed her MBBS in 1969 and MS (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) in 1974 from the same college. She started her medical career as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in Kanpur and soon established herself as one of the most respectable doctors of the city.
Laid Foundation of Madhuraj Hospital
She, along with her husband Dr. R. K. Loomba, conceptualized the establishment of maternity home and later laid the foundation of Madhuraj Nursing Home (A 30 Bed Maternity Hospital) in 1983. By decree of providence this turned out to be an influential step of her life, from a small maternity centre, today hospital is recognized as one of the best multi-specialty hospitals of the city with more than 125 beds in place.

Dr. Madhu Loomba had been a keen student of medical field all through her life and this has very well manifested in her academic profile and professional portfolio. In spite of being a busy medical practioner she continued her studies and obtained degrees of highest order. In the pursuit, she went on to obtain the prestigious Fellowship of International College of Surgeons (FICS) in the year 1994.

Search for knowledge is unending and it is very well relished by the seekers of knowledge in their respective fields. Same goes true in the case of Dr. Madhu Loomba. Her urge for knowledge was so intense that nothing could stop her in adding another feather to her cap. In the year 1995 she obtained Fellowship of Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FICOG).

When going par excellence is the goal and life is full of day-to-day responsibilities, the aspirant has to put herculean effort to make that happen. Dr. Madhu Loomba was determined that she would not settle for less in her academic life. She strived to achieve the most reputed fellowship in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology i.e. Fellow of Indian College of Maternal and Child Health (FICMCH) in the year 1996.
Constant Endeavor in Medical Field
Dr. Madhu Loomba – a dedicated, enterprising and an eager learner underwent exhaustive training in Pelviscopic Surgery from KIEL University (Germany) in 1996 followed by Laser and Endoscopic Surgery from Stanford University (USA). Later, she established Kanpur City’s first Laparoscopic Centre with expertise in fertility enhancing Laparoscopic Surgery. She has been practicing Endoscopic Surgery since then and has more than 10,000 cases to her credit.
Reaching New Heights
She continued to tread on the path of success and got herself trained in Infertility – IVF – ICSI from Mumbai and Europe. Dr. Madhu Loomba has in her credit of being the first IVF (super-specialist) expert of the city. She established the first Test-Tube Baby Centre in Kanpur under the aegis of Madhuraj Hospital, fondly famous as Madhuraj Advanced Infertility & IVF – ICSI Centre.
Birth of Kanpur’s First Test Tube Baby
Knowledge put into action started bearing marvelous fruits. Dr. Madhu Loomba established the Madhuraj Advanced Infertility & IVF-ICSI centre in the year 2000 and just after one year, the first test tube baby of Kanpur city was born to the couple in the centre under the medical guidance and supervision of Dr. Madhu Loomba. The news was widely covered and prominently published in all the national newspapers. In later years, the first IVF twins and the first IVF triplets were also born in the centre.
President Kanpur Obs. & Gynae Society (FOGSI)
Dr. Madhu Loomba served as president of Kanpur Obs. & Gynae society (FOGSI) from the year 2003 to 2006. These were the 3 most illustrious years in the history of FOGSI, KANPUR SOCIETY because as president Dr. Loomba organised various CME’S on Infertility, Endoscopy & Color Doppler Ultrasound. She was the chairperson for many programmes and under her competent leadership, fellow members of society got excellent learning opportunity.
A True Academician
Dr. Madhu Loomba firmly believes that there cannot be any shortcut to knowledge. She is of the opinion that doctors should keep themselves abreast with latest developments in their respective fields. This one particular thought motivated her to constantly engage in learning new concepts of medical field. She did this for herself and also for others by continuously organizing national and international conferences on Infertility, Endoscopic Surgery etc. under the aegis of Madhuraj Hospital.
Programmes of IMA Kanpur Chapter
Dr. Loomba being a lifetime member of IMA Kanpur and one of the senior doctors of the city, has been given the responsibility of being the Programme Director of many big academic events being organised by IMA Kanpur branch. She contributed uniquely and selflessly for such programmes and ensured their success by her knowledge, deployment of personal resources and due-deliberations.
National Conference on Infertility
Madhuraj Hospital under the able leadership of Dr. Loomba organised a CME cum Workshop at national level on infertility updates in the year 2013. The programme was highly successful and was attended by the famous doctors of National repute like Dr. Rishma Pai, Dr. H.D Pai, Dr. Abha Jindal and many more. The event was widely covered by the print media.
A Token of Gesture; Celebration with Test Tube Babies
‘They are Mine’ is a feeling which has often throbbed the heart of Dr. Loomba while looking at the number of more than 500 successful test tube babies being delivered in Madhuraj IVF Centre. So, she established a tradition (Parampara) of dedicating a day full of fun-filled celebration with the test tube babies. A day when she enjoys the company of these beautiful souls.
Live Hysteroscopy Workshop Cum CME
Year 2015 had witnessed a one of its kind events in the history of Madhuraj Advanced Infertility & IVF Centre because it became a testimony of Live Hysteroscopy Workshop Cum CME being organized by the centre in association with HEAGER Germany and BORZEE USA. This academic event with live demonstration of Hysteroscopy was witnessed by the most distinguished doctors of India.
National Conference on Infertility Update
‘Learning is a constant endeavor’ and ‘Sharing the knowledge is a noble act’ probably has been the driving force behind Dr. Loomba to organize one or the other academic event in Madhuraj. In the year 2017 she organised a National Conference on Infertility Update which was attended by a large gathering of doctors from the same field and it was one of the most talked about event in medical fraternity.
Dr. Madhu Loomba; An Inspiring Gynaecologist of India
The morning of ‘Doctor’s Day’ of 2018 brought the laurels for entire Loomba family and Dr. Madhu Loomba in particular, when The Economic Times news paper chose her as one of the most ‘Inspiring Gynaecologist of India’. Later, she was awarded the same in a mega event organised in Delhi by the Times Group. The function was honored with the benign presence of many stalwarts of the corporate world, media groups and medical fraternity.
Life Time Achievement Award
Lifetime Achievement Award is a true acknowledgement that the awardee has done something of substance which directly relates to human life. 2019 blessed Dr. Loomba with Life Time Achievement Award something which she deserved on account of her 43 years of disciplined and dedicated medical practice done with compassion, honesty and sincerity.
